Croydon Council’s Adult Social Care department is launching a series of community information sessions in Norbury to help residents transform their care-giving passions into sustainable local micro-enterprises.

What is a Community Micro-Enterprise?

Community Micro-Enterprises (CM-Es) are very small, independent businesses or sole traders that offer highly personalised care and support services. These can include assisting older people with daily tasks, offering companionship, facilitating leisure activities, or helping residents with learning and physical disabilities to live independently. Designed to employ fewer than eight staff, micro-enterprises focus on delivering hyper-local help directly in the community.

How Norbury Residents Can Get Involved

Croydon Council and development partner Community Catalysts are hosting free information sessions across the borough. The local session for the Croydon North-West locality—covering Norbury, Pollards Hill, West Thornton, and Bensham Manor—is scheduled to take place at Norbury Library on Beatrice Avenue on Friday, 13 March 2026, from 10:30am to 1:00pm.

The session is tailored for anyone interested in working for themselves as a local provider, as well as existing voluntary groups or small businesses looking to register under the borough's official development programme. Support is free and includes assistance with legal requirements, business planning, safeguarding, and marketing, led by Service Development Manager Sasha Lindsay.

How to Register and Enquire

Residents who cannot attend the session at Beatrice Avenue can still access support online. Croydon Council has made a Community Micro-Enterprise Enquiry Form available on its official website, and direct questions can be directed to [email protected].
