Published 27 June 2026. Croydon Council says it has committed at least five social housing properties each year to help veterans access stable, long-term housing through The Stoll Foundation.
The borough-wide pledge is not specific to Norbury, but it may be relevant to former service personnel and military families living in Norbury SW16 who are trying to understand what local support exists.
According to the council, veterans already receive high priority through Croydon’s housing allocation scheme. The additional homes will be made available through The Stoll Foundation, a veterans’ housing charity, with support intended to help people live independently.
The council says the work will run through the Foundation’s Veterans Nomination Scheme. The Foundation’s scheme has operated since 2009 and has helped more than 900 veterans find a home, according to the council’s announcement.
Why it matters locally
Housing demand remains high across Croydon, including in the north of the borough. For Norbury residents with a service background, the announcement is a useful prompt to check official housing advice and specialist veterans’ support routes rather than relying on informal information.
The council also links the pledge to its Armed Forces Covenant commitments, which are intended to support fair access to services for serving personnel, veterans, reservists and military families.
