Norbury families looking for a free summer outing have a new Croydon town centre arts date to check for the first weekend of July.

Culture Croydon, Croydon Council’s culture programme, lists For Miss La La as taking place on Croydon High Street on Saturday 4 July and Sunday 5 July 2026.

The official listing says the event is free, suitable for all ages and does not require booking. It is due to feature outdoor contemporary circus, including aerial work, acrobatics, roller skating, juggling and tightwire, alongside DJs and hands-on circus skills workshops.

When and where

  • Saturday 4 July: 1pm to 6pm
  • Sunday 5 July: 12pm to 5pm
  • Location: Croydon High Street, opposite Grants, CR0 1GT
  • Cost: Free, no booking required

The Culture Croydon page describes the location as being on the High Street opposite Grants and provides a map link and What3Words reference. Residents should check the official event listing before setting off in case details change.

Why Miss La La?

According to Culture Croydon and Croydon Council’s newsroom, the weekend is inspired by Anna Albertine Olga Brown, known as Miss La La, a 19th-century aerialist of Afro-German heritage. Her story is also linked to Degas’ painting Miss La La at the Cirque Fernando, which is being shown locally through the National Gallery’s Art On Your Doorstep programme.

Croydon Council says the programme has been curated by Upswing and led by artistic director Vicki Dela Amedume MBE.

Travel note for Norbury

For Norbury residents, Croydon High Street is reachable by public transport via central Croydon. As with any town centre event, visitors should check live bus, rail and tram information before travelling, especially at weekends.

The official event page also notes that audience photographs and video may be taken during the event, and asks people who do not want to be photographed or filmed to make staff aware.
