Published Wednesday 12 August 2026. Norbury bus passengers using Route 50 should check live journey information before setting off, after Transport for London listed a diversion towards Croydon because of roadworks on Norbury Crescent.
TfL’s disruption feed for Route 50 says: “NORBURY CRESCENT, SW16: ROUTE 50 towards Croydon, is on diversion due to roadworks taking place on Norbury Crescent.” The same TfL notice says bus stops from Norbury Crescent / London Road stop C to Brook Road will not be served, and advises passengers to allow extra time.
The TfL feed checked by the Gazette listed the disruption as created on 10 August and last updated shortly afterwards. It did not give an end time in the feed returned to the Gazette, so passengers should check TfL’s live information before travelling.
How this differs from the earlier traffic-order report
The Gazette reported on 9 August that Croydon Council’s August temporary traffic-order list included a made notice for Norbury Crescent. This article is a narrower follow-up for bus users, based on TfL’s live Route 50 disruption feed.
What passengers can do
- Check the TfL Route 50 status page before leaving.
- Use TfL’s journey planner if you normally board between Norbury Crescent / London Road and Brook Road.
- Allow extra time for journeys towards Croydon while the diversion is listed.
- Look for temporary stop notices locally and check live arrivals, as diversion details can change.
The Gazette has not independently observed the roadworks or on-street diversion. This article is based on TfL public disruption information checked on 12 August 2026 and should be read alongside live TfL updates.
